James Mons is the Director of Musical Activities and Cantor at University Lutheran Chapel. Originally from Iowa, he is an alumnus of the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance.
In addition to his work at ULC, James is an active freelance trumpeter in the Twin Cities. His performance experience includes collaborations with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He is also an educator, having served as interim band director at Benton Community High School, an instructor in the University of Minnesota’s music education department, a private trumpet teacher, and a guest artist and clinician.
